Tip-to-Ranger
Model
You report. Council rangers act. Zero legal complexity.
📸
Step 1 — You Submit
Capture timestamped photo evidence and submit your report through the app. You are acting as a witness or informant.
🔍
Step 2 — Council Reviews
A council ranger reviews your evidence. If sufficient, they attend the location or issue a postal infringement based on your timestamped evidence.
👮
Step 3 — Ranger Enforces
The ranger — not you — is the issuing authority. They exercise independent professional judgment before any fine is issued.
⚖ Your Legal Role
You are a witness or informant — just as you would be reporting any suspected offence to authorities. You do not issue fines or make enforcement decisions. NSW law has no prohibition on members of the public reporting suspected offences to rangers.
ℹ️
This model requires no legislative change and operates within existing NSW law. No financial rewards are offered — this is a public reporting service only.
Best Violation Types to Report
✅ Time-restricted zones (vehicle likely still present when ranger arrives)
✅ No Stopping / Clearway violations (longer dwell time)
✅ Repeat offenders in the same spot
⚠ Drop-off / loading zones (transient — ranger may not arrive in time)
